The following is a list of my full length plays, If you are interested in reading any of them, please write to: Albigorn@optonline.net.

ROADSIGNS Comedy (Norm 40+, a New York neurotic; Perry 40+, a Bohemian painter) Norm chances upon Perry while driving through the desert where she is painting. They chat and Perry explains that she paints roadsigns, although they are quite unconventional. She is also working on a painting she has painted for years, which turns out to be an entirely white canvas. She decides to go back to New York with Norm and start an artistic/business collaboration. In the second scene they “work” together in a loft Norm has selected, where the challenges of an artistic relationship get tangled up in the challenges of a romantic relationship. In the third scene, on a hilltop in Woodstock, Norm complains of too much distance between them, Perry complains of being too close, and they eventually work their way to some possible compromise. 75 minutes, simple set.

GOLDENSBRIDGE: A COMMUNIST KADDISH Drama (Maury 75-80, also 21 and 50; Lily 75-80, also 21; Sam 75-80 also 21; Harvey 16 and 46, Maury and Lily’s son; Emma 16, 46; Ivan 16, 46; Yetta 80+; Myra 40+, a Scab 20s; Morris and Midge [offstage voices]) The play jumps back and forth from 1991-1995 to 1934, 1963 and 1988 and jumps from one location to another. Lily and Maury live in Goldensbridge, a small, self-governing residential left-wing community in Westchester, NY. Lily tries to convince Maury that old age has left them isolated and vulnerable and she wants to move to an assisted living facility, which Maury ultimately agrees to. The second act shows them living in Kittay, an assisted care facility in the Bronx. Interwoven with their scenes, we see their son, Harvey, in his first summer in Goldensbridge and his first romance (with Emma). Harvey plays guitar and sings, as does Ivan. An unexpected twist forces them to make significant decisions about their life and about Goldensbridge. This somewhat autobiographical play offers difficult challenges in terms of casting, set and frequent references to the red diaper baby subculture, and probably should be a movie. Two hours plus an intermission.

DIMINISHED CAPACITY Dramedy (Herb 40s, Lourdes 20s, Cindy 30s, Miranda 30s, Larry 30s, Judge Ryan 60s, Jennifer 30s, Robert 30s, Sharon 20s, Ted 50s). A comedy/drama set in the court system. Cindy is representing Hector Soto on a drug case. The prosecutor, Larry, puts enormous pressure on her to have her client rat on another defendant in the case: his mother. In a parallel story, Cindy’s law partner, Herb, is looking for a truly sexual experience. Cindy’s husband, Ted, is having an affair with one of his students, Sharon, while Jennifer, a court reporter, is having an affair with the married Larry, and eventually goes to see a psychiatrist, Robert. Eventually Judge Ryan steps in to try to sort things out. Should be staged with simple set pieces moved on an off. Two hours plus intermission.

BACK TO THE GARDEN Dramedy (Eve, Adam, The Serpent, God, Fecunda, Nehebeth, Shomein, Wayfare, Nomad, The Guardian – the age, gender, race and ethnicity of the cast is quite flexible). A midrash – a retelling of a Biblical story. Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit and are exiled from the Garden of Eden, get separated, and meet up with Ice Age peoples in great need. TO KNOW HIM Drama (Rick 54, Penny 30ish, Harry 75) Penny, a Rabbinical student, does chaplaincy rounds (visiting hospital patients) as part of her training. She meets Rick, a terminally ill, deeply embittered atheist but finds enough commonality with him that he allows her to continue visiting. She uncovers a secret from Rick’s past and risks expulsion from her school to try to make things right. Essentially just a hospital room set. Two hours plus intermission.

Teddy’s mom, Clare, meets Tiger’s mom, Serena, and takes an interest in the case. Tiger’s classmate, Shawn, decides to take matters into his own hands. Two hours plus intermission.

HELLO, I MUST BE GOING Dramedy (Maggie, Julie [male], Harvey 50, Emma late 20s, Maury late 70s, Maury’s Spirit. A somewhat stylized play with all six actors staying on stage for the entire play, with lighting of different areas to suggest scene changes. Weeks before the due date of his twins, Harvey’s dad, Maury, has a debilitating stroke. As he tries to deal with this, one of his children, Maggie, dies in the womb. A living death and a death before life. Emma and Harvey struggle with their losses, while Maury through his Spirit deals with his compromised reality.  Around 75 minutes with no intermission.

JIM’S ROOM Dramedy (Beau 30s, Maddie 30s, Agnes 50s, Ron 30s, Bev 30s, Shirley 40s, Marty 60s, Rachel late 50s) Beau and Maddie meet and start dating, but fail to consummate the relationship. They can’t figure out what’s holding them back and decide to visit Maddie’s roommate’s, Bev’s, sister Shirley, an astrologer. Maddie begins to develop the notion that she is the reincarnation of Beau’s dead twin brother, Jim. After convincing Beau’s parents, Rachel and Marty, finally Beau accepts it as well. For some reason, this allows them to finally make love, and creates a whole new mystery. Multiple sets best served by suggestion. Two hours plus intermission.
